Urinary Tract Infection
Urinary Tract Infection
A urinary tract infection (UTI) is a bacterial infection that affects any part of the urinary system, including the kidneys, bladder, ureters, and urethra. UTIs are more common in women than in men and can cause a range of uncomfortable and potentially dangerous symptoms, including frequent urination, painful urination, cloudy or bloody urine, and fever.
UTIs are typically caused by bacteria that enter the urinary tract through the urethra and can multiply rapidly in the bladder or kidneys if left untreated. Risk factors for UTIs include being female, having a history of UTIs, having a compromised immune system, and certain medical conditions, such as diabetes.
